In this world , all living things , substance , man & other animals are made from the five basic elements i.e.  the sky, the earth, the wind, the water & the fire.   The five elements have close relationship with man & his environment. Nature has given them their proper place according to merit .   If we give proper place to these elements at proper places in our  building then we become one with the nature. In simple words, application of Vastushastra will bring virtues of these five elements to the house. Vastu means 'house' & shastra means 'science'  I.e.  it is the scientific method of house cons- truction.Vastushastra considers house to be of a living entity, the Vastu Purush, having Prana (life sustaining force)  &  whose breathing is governed by the sun streams (soorya nadi) & the moon streams (chandra nadi), which have relevance to directional aspects.   The Moon streams are beneficial &  have control over the North & East sides. These streams are life promotive  &  bring harmony, peace  &  prosperity to the dweller  . In other words they bring positivity in the house  .  As the North is the source of electromagnetic flux lines  (Jaivic Urja) &  East is the source of  solar energy (Pranik Urja) . On the other hand, the Sun streams have control over the South & West directions , they are sink directions hence they bring pain misfortune, sorrow & negativity in the house. So overall controlling the Sun streams & enhan- cing the moon streams is the basic fundamental of Vastushastra. Hence we can say that  a  house which has more moon streams is a good house and a house having more sun streams is not a good house . Many people have  a  wrong perception about Vastushastra in their minds . They think that application of Vastushastra would be very costly & would involve huge structural changes, but they are not aware that changes can be brought by simply placing the furniture & fixtures in right direction in the house . Many remedies such as crystals, pyramids, fountains, yantras, stone cladding, gems etc are available to rectify the Vastudoshas  (Vastu defects).
